Fly Fisher, Author, Publisher

For more than 50 years, Thomas R. Pero has been a central figure in fly-fishing publishing. Starting as a teenager, he edited Roundtable, an international fly-tying magazine. In 1977 he was hired by Trout Unlimited as the first full-time editor of Trout. During his 16-year tenure, twice the publication was recognized as Conservation Magazine of the Year by the Natural Resources Council of America. For the last two decades Tom has been Publisher at Wild River Press, home to many of the great fly-fishing books in print today, including Atlantic Salmon Magic by Topher Browne, Fly Fishing for Striped Bass by Rich Murphy, Wild Steelhead by Sean Gallagher, Flies for Atlantic Salmon & Steelhead by Trey Combs, and the enduring “Passion” trilogy—Passion for Tarpon by Andy Mill, Passion for Permit by Jonathan Olch, and Passion for Bonefish by Ian Davis.
