Author's notes:
The research for this book began several years ago, well before I considered a career in the fly-fishing industry, much less becoming a writer. My first-&-foremost thanks must go out to my grandfather, Boots Allen, father, & uncle. These three individuals helped to pioneer the fly-fishing industry in the Snake River region. Research for this book comes in large part from conversations with, & observations from, those who fly-fish the Snake River & call it their home river. The fly-fish & tie in the Snake River region is to be a part of a fraternity that has a sincere concern for the ecosystem & readily shares information about the river, its tributaries, its trout & its trout food. Growing up here, I have had the privilege to know & learn from some of the local industry greats. For eight months every year, my life revolves around guiding.
