ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Outfitter Bill Mason has fly fished for over 45 years. He pioneered fly fishing outfitting on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. He also helped start Boise, Idaho’s first real fly shop. In 1972 Bill started a professional guiding and fly fishing school at the internationally-famous Sun Valley Resort. He operated the Snug Fly Shop for 15 years. Now owned by Bill and renamed Bill Mason’s Outfitters, this Sun Valley shop continues as one of the leading purveyors to fly fishers in Idaho.

Bill has helped to identify most of the key hatches and successful fly patterns used on Idaho’s fly fishing waters. He has written many articles and contributed to other works on fly fishing. Bill’s Sports Illustrated Fly Fishing Book, written for the beginner to intermediate fly fisher, is a classic contribution to the “how to” section of fly fishing works. Locals enjoy Bill’s summertime fly fishing column in the Idaho Mountain Express newspaper. When not fly fishing or at his typewriter Bill is often found on a nearby golf course.

REVIEWS
“Long-time Idaho fly fisherman, author and guide Bill Mason reveals the premier fly fishing waters in Idaho without a lot of unimportant folderol. You won’t get bogged down reading Bill’s No Nonsense guide. It’s a fine addition to this line of guidebooks. And you’ll love the fly fishing in Idaho!” --Harry Teel, author of the first No Nonsense Guide, Guide to Fly Fishing Central & Southeastern Oregon

“Here’s a very helpful guide for the fly fisherman who’s just learning about Idaho’s many and varied waters. Mason, an experienced guide based out of Sun Valley, spotlights 20 of the best waters in Idaho. Each profile includes a map showing access points, best fishing spots for various species, and more. Another nice touch is a ranking by the author of each water, lending perspective to the author’s comments and helping the reader to gauge the quality of the angling to be had.” --Ted Eisele,Books in Review
