Anglers in Central Oregon will be happy to know that Sun Publishing¹s fifth edition of FISHING Central Oregon (and beyond) is now available providing readers with upgraded quality and additional information. Previous editions have received Best Seller recognition, and 40,000 copies sold supports that claim. The book has proven very popular with local anglers as well as vacationers. The emphasis has always been on quality in the book¹s content as well as its presentation.
The fifth edition of FISHING Central Oregon (and beyond), has been updated and expanded by 64 pages and includes over 500 color photos, many new waters, detailed maps, and illustrations that help to complete the overall picture of Central Oregon¹s renowned waters.
This edition added some places to take the kids fishing, like Shevlin Pond, Fireman¹s Pond, and Mirror Pond, to name a few, and covers more private waters such as Antone Ranch Lakes, Alder Creek Ranch, and Grindstone lakes.
The coverage stretches to the north, east, and south to please even more readers. Six pages now describe how to fish for a wide variety of fish in the Columbia River. Other waters in the Umatilla area are covered. To the east, the Burns area receives more coverage and to the southeast the Ana and Chewaucan rivers are included.
Local outdoor writer, Gary Lewis, is the contributing author in this fifth edition. Gary devoted a lot of his time traveling to many new waters a little beyond what most consider Central Oregon. His writing and photos speak for his knowledge and expertise. Although Brooke Snavely and Raven Wing were not involved in this edition, much of their work remains from the earlier editions.
Many fishermen and fisherwomen opt to hire a guide when fishing the lakes and rivers of Central Oregon. So, information on how to hire a guide and what to expect on a guided trip is included. There are also sections on catch-and-release, trolling and jigging, fly fishing, fishing with bait, and float tubes.
Again, advertisers have an opportunity to tell of their products or services, such as resort/lodging accommodations, guided fishing trips, fishing equipment, and more valuable information that would not otherwise be included.
Central Oregon, the Cascades, and beyond offer some of the best fishing in the country. With this book anglers will be better prepared to experience the thrill of catching fish!
